How do I register?

How long does it take to get registered?

Once we receive your paperwork, registration generally takes one to two business days and involves processing the paperwork and providing a username and password to your agency.

I am an agent with Myron Steves. Do I still need to register for Tryton?

Yes. Please contact the Myron Steves marketing department at 713-351-8497 for details.

How do I quote a piece of business through Tryton?

Once you are registered and have received your ID and password, you will be able to access our online rating system through our website. You will then have the opportunity to complete an online application for your client. Once you click the submit button, the risk is submitted electronically to the carriers that offer the requested coverages. An email will be sent to advise you when your quotes are ready. You will even be able to view them side-by-side for comparison. Acord applications may also be submitted to us for commercial lines risks, high value home and auto, as well as boats, jet skis, motorcycles, and RVs via email to submissions@trytoninsurance.com or via fax at: 877-222-0362.

What are your premium volume requirements?

We do not require a premium commitment from our agency partners to write business with Tryton Insurance Group.

How do I check to see if you have coverage available for my client?

Once you are registered, you can enter the insured's zip code and type of business into the system. The system identifies coverages that are available in that area for a certain class and line of business.

Important Note: If you do not see a specific class of business listed, or the system indicates no market availability, please feel free to contact our call center at 866-441-1061 to determine eligibility outside our online rating system.

How long does it take to get a quote?

Our goal is to have a 48-hour turnover for bindable online rating quotes. However, by completing your application using our rater, you should be able to determine a pricing indication within a few minutes.

What if I have an underwriting question?

Contact your underwriter! You have access to your underwriters by phone, fax, and email. Our underwriters are company-trained with many years of experience. You can email us with general underwriting questions at service@trytoninsurance.com or call our call center at 866-441-1061.

How are claims handled?

Your client's policy will indicate how claims should be handled. For your convenience, we have also listed our carrier's claims fax and phone numbers under the Claims tab on the Tryton Insurance website.

Do the carriers offer payment options for my insured?

Yes, before you request to bind a policy for your insured, you will be offered the applicable payment options.

Who do my customers pay for policies written through Tryton?

Your customers should pay the writing carrier of each policy directly, as they will be invoiced directly by the carrier. Under no circumstances should your customers pay Tryton directly, nor should they pay you directly. Please do not forward your customer or agency checks to us, unless requested to do so by our accounting department. For carrier payment information, please click here.

Does our agency name appear on the policy?

No, it does not. Tryton Insurance Group has the company appointment, so our name is listed as producer. From time to time, carriers may wish to know which producers work with us in particular states. We value your privacy but are obliged to provide them this very basic information.

Does our agency have binding authority?

No. Coverage is bound only after submitting a request to Tryton Insurance Group. You can request binding through our online system and a binder confirmation will be sent back to your office. For business quoted outside the online system, send your request in writing by fax or email, and follow up with any requested down payment and application within five business days.

What if I have a direct appointment with one of your carriers?

In each application, you will be able to "opt out" of a specific carrier's quoting system.

Does Tryton Insurance Group accept BORs?

Yes, on a case-by-case basis. Please contact our call center for details at 866-441-1061

What if I need an endorsement or Certificate of Insurance?

In many cases you may request these directly from the carrier. See service page for details. Otherwise, for policies issued on our online system, all policy change requests must be submitted to us directly from the Tryton website. For endorsement requests of policies that have been issued outside our online rating system, please forward an endorsement request to us at service@trytoninsurance.com or via fax at 877-222-0362.

How do I get loss runs?

Please send a request for loss runs to service@trytoninsurance.com. Include in your request the effective and expiration date along with the policy number(s).

Will you refer business to Myron Steves that Tryton cannot consider?

If you would like Myron Steves to consider your account, please send an application directly to Myron Steves. We cannot guarantee that business sent to us through our online rating system will be sent for review in excess and surplus markets.

Do you require that I have E&O insurance?

Yes. We require that our agency partners have at least $1mil/$1mil limits. A copy of your E&O declarations page is required to establish an agency agreement with Tryton Insurance and must be sent before an ID and password will be assigned. We also require a signed copy of our business practices agreement, W-9, and a copy of your P&C license for each state in which you wish to write with us.
